My name is Peg Peters. I have been married to Heather - (check out her blog - DivineFeminine.ca) for 31 years and have four grown daughters. I have always been searching for a way to connect with God personally. I grew up in an evangelical Mennonite church and went to a Christian high school and then Bible College. I became an ordained minister in the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination in Abbotsford BC Canada. I then did a Master's Degree at Regent College and began work on a PhD in Philosophy at Simon Fraser University. I taught philosophy at Trinity Western University with a goal of renewing and reforming Christianity from within.
Along with a therapist friend of mine I started and pastored a "post-modern” church for 15 years called Nexus. I wanted people to experience freedom in their spirituality rather than shame or fear.
I had walked with so many people as they tried to recover from the spiritual abuse they experienced in their patriarchal, colonizing, homophobic, scorekeeping churches.. I finally stopped calling myself a Christian and left evangelicalism and with it the only symbols I knew that helped me experience a relationship with God. But God was dead and evangelicalism had killed him.
I turned my passion and spiritual energy towards justice issues and helped start a charity, Run for Water, that helped empower and educate women in rural Ethiopia through access to clean water,
This was my spiritual outlet for 15 years until something bizarre happened to me three years ago. I had my first high dose (7 grams) therapeutic mushroom trip that changed my life. What I experienced was profound and reignited my passion for God…on this trip I met God….and SHE was so much bigger than my tiny frameworks that had been handed to me from my bible college days. Wow
So this is where I am at. I want to start a Psychedelic Christian Renewal movement to help people heal and experience first hand the transforming power of Divine LOVE.
